On November 1st and 8th, over 700 plants were planted! Special thanks to the students of Cascade High School for their hard work on this steep slope.
As students of the Native Plant Stewardship class, four of us formed a team to work on a restoration project at Forest Park. We have a 1-acre plot around the east entrance of the park.
As part of our project, we plan to:
Create a restoration plan.
Inventory trees and site conditions
Remove invasive species and site hazards.
Create a planting list
Hold work parties to plant native plants.
Plan for future site maintenance.
We are interested in working with members of the community and invite those interested to volunteer.
Update: December
After 2 successful work parties we have almost all of the plants in the ground. This spring we will monitor for their survival and re-evaluate the site.
Occasional maintenance to remove any invasive species that come back in will be ongoing.
